Tom Dickerson


Tom Dickerson joined TD in 1988 and is the firm’s chairman. He has considerable experience in negotiating mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt offerings, and private placements. Specializing in strategic planning for development stage companies, Tom is particularly effective at communicating portfolio company vision to the venture industry and Wall Street. He has also played a central role in the development of TD’s regional strategy.

Prior to joining TD, Tom held positions as a lawyer, a corporate strategic planner, and an investment banker. He began his career in 1974 as a corporate attorney with Coudert Brothers in New York. In 1981, after completing his MBA, he worked as an investment banker for eight years specializing in the health care industry, first at Lehman Brothers from 1980 to 1985, and then at E.F. Hutton where he was named co-head of the health care investment banking group in 1986.

Tom has a BA from Harvard College, a JD from Harvard Law School and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is a director of a number of private companies and non-profit organizations.
